Supported by a network of carefully selected distributors and agents, our Thermax® brand products are strategically located globally.

A proud member of the Tokai Carbon Group, we are focused on innovation. Our product portfolio currently has eight (8) different grades, all manufactured at the world’s largest thermal carbon black production facility, located in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada.

Cancarb is the leader in the development, manufacturing, and global distribution of medium thermal carbon black. Our Thermax® brand carbon blacks are available globally and offer solutions to the rubber industry and beyond.

Thermal carbon black, often referred to as medium thermal black, is derived from thermal decomposition of natural gas. It is one of the purest forms of carbon available on an industrial scale.

Being accountable to our planet is important to us and we take it seriously. From continual yield improvement initiatives to reduce, reuse & recycle programs, we are acting every day to ensure a clean and healthy planet for future generations. We even use the heat from our production process to create high pressure steam that we use to generate electricity that powers approximately 20% of the City of Medicine Hat. This results in a reduction of approximately 90,000 tons of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions that would otherwise be needed to satisfy that power demand.
